Thousands of people make their way from around the world to experience La Tomatina, ‘World’s Biggest Food Fight Festival’, by tossing over one hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes in the streets of Buñol near Valencia, Spain, held on the last Wednesday of August each year. Prior to 2013 almost 50,000 people jam-packed into this huge tomato fight, greatly expanding Bunol’s normal population of 9000 people, thereby declining the participants to just 20,000 per year. Shopkeepers of the town use huge plastic covers on the façade of their shops in order to protect them from the fest. Get ready for the dirty mess that will ensue the most amazing day of your life!

Gaze at the Almudena cathedral, situated adjacent to the Royal palace, built as the grandest place of worship for King Filipe II. This 1879 construction was finally completed wonderfully, adorned with marvellous frescoes and murals in 1993 after a halt due to Civil War in the region.
The Royal Palace across the cathedral was first possessed by King Carlos III in 1764, making it the largest royal palace in Western Europe.

After breakfast, our morning drive takes us to Museo Thyssen, the finest art museum and one of the most important in the world for its extensive collection of European (especially Spanish) art dating back from 12th to 19th century.
Take a stroll around the amazingly green Parque del Retiro, one of the city’s largest parks in the world, almost covering 1.4 square km with main attractions such as the Prado Museum. Behold the neo-classical granite wonder, Puerta de Alcala, a gate in Madrid standing in the center of Plaza de la Independencia, flaunting its extraordinary design created by several famous architects.

After breakfast, head out for your most awaited La Tomatina Festival, with plenty of trucks carrying loads of tomatoes into the town centre, Plaza del Pueblo.
The festival gets started after a brave person climbs on a two-story high, slippery wooden pole to reach the bag of ham at the top. Clean yourself at the Buñol river or from a hosepipe of a friendly native and return to the hotel for some rest.
In the evening, head out for a shopping spree at the Grand Central Market or Mercado Central, built between 1915 and 1928 with magnificent architecture.
