Set in the Western Ghats, Wayanad is a district in the north east of Kerala (south India), its landscapes made up of cascading waterfalls, tea and coffee estates and home to a fascinating assortment of wildlife.
Wayanad offers a wonderful assortment for kids – whether they like playing in the water, wildlife or learning about the biginings of a civilization.
Covering three days, this tour would introduce you to the landscapes and wildlife of Wayanad.Mornings will be spent at the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, keeping an eye out for Elephants, Deers, Sambar, Mongoose & Peacocks. Caves will be explored which will take us back thousands of years. Sunsets will be seen, mesmerized from the highest point in the district.

With an early start from Bangalore, arrive at Kozhikode (Calicut) International Airport.
Upon arrival, a representative from our side will assist in the transfer to Wayanad. Check into a hotel.
Post lunch set out for an evening at the Banasura Sagar Dam.
The largest earthen dam in India, supporting hydroelectricity projects, irrigation and drinking water facilities of the region. Built across the Karamanathodu River, at the foothills of the Banasura Hills, the dam is named after Banasura – the son of King Mahabali, who is said to have taken severe penance in the surrounding hills.
Hosting a range of activities – from boat rides to fish spa, the dam is a popular destination.
Return to the hotel for the night.

Start the day with a visit to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. A Jeep Safari is usually run by the Forest Office, following a fixed trail within the forest and exiting into the main road at different points. Elephants, Deers, Sambar, Mongoose & Peacocks are commonly seen with the occasional tiger.
Stopping for breakfast, proceed to Pookote Lake, a large freshwater lake, surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills. Home to a variety of native species – birds, fish and flowers, the lake offers an entirely tranquil experience and is a popular destination, with an array of activities to choose from – a path lines the lake – making for a leisurely stroll; boating facilities, a children’s park, an handicrafts and spice emporium and a freshwater aquarium.
Lakkidi is a small hill station not far from Pookote Lake and is the highest point in Wayanad.
Rich in biodiversity, and showcasing mesmerizing panoramas of the surrounding hills and streams, Lakkidi is a popular destination with nature enthusiasts and trekkers alike.
An alternative to an evening at the Pookote Lake and Lakkidi would be to visit Edakkal Caves and the Heritage Museum.
Explore Edakkal Caves – dating back to 6000 BC the caves boast of art (pictorial writings, along with carvings of humans and animals) belonging to a Neolithic Civilization.
A short distance from here is the Wayanad Heritage Museum. Housing several rare collections of the local tribe dating back to the second century AD including jewellery, hunting and fishing weapons, farming instruments, 14th – 16th-century sculptures and local art.
The rest of the evening is to be spent at leisure.
